Good Eating

I love eating good food. Much of the time I feel busy and unable to actually prepare the yummy food I'd like to get cooking. When everyone at my house was out of town, I was "holding down the farm" pretty much alone, which resulted in even less time to spend cooking. (Besides, cooking for one isn't all that fun anyway.) But I still needed to eat. I started making smoothies (a favorite breakfast anyway!) This worked well - but the smoothies weren't staying with me long enough. So I started adding one or two eggs to my smoothies. I didn't know if I could do it, but seriously you can't even taste it!

After making this smoothie I called Uriah to tell him I drank raw eggs. Hurray!!

Smoothie Recipe:
Large handful of Spinage
One lemon (with peel)
Cup of Yogurt (raw goat milk)
Less than a Cup of Kefir (raw goat milk)
Six large strawberries
Small handfull raspberries
Apple sauce or banana

Words, Games, And Life

I love words. I enjoy communicating A LOT. But I'm not a good speller. I grew up with a mother who can spell just about anything, an older brother who is a great speller too. Then there's me - truly rotten. Needless to say, growing up games like scrabble, boggle, and keyword didn't spell out a night of fun. (I cannot find a link for keyword! It must not be very popular.)

When I moved a year ago to the goat farm I live on now, I was delighted to learn that everyone there played games! New games were introduced, like Flinch, Rummikub and many more. Old games that I love were played, like Sorry!, Poker, Speed.... But there is a favorite played often, my all time worst game ever. Scrabble! We even play a variation called Speed Scrabble.

One day while eating lunch I took the squares out and had some fun.

I started with vindicated and vulnerable. Lynn stopped by to see what I was doing and asked if I meant anything by it.

After a year, I'm still not a good speller. I still get a little nervous when playing scrabble with Forest (who is a GREAT speller.) And yet, I think I've learned to enjoy not being perfect and can now just play the game!

My Camera!! And School!! And Schedules.

After some encouragement from my house-mate, I finally got the cord to my camera! I can again take pictures. Which means, this should be the last of my only word post. I thought it would help me to have a goal of posting something on here once a week. So that's the idea.

Should this be a little bit about school? Why not?

I thought it would be wonderful to be back in school - and I was right. I LOVE IT!!! Last sememster I took four classes and got my first ever "B" over all in a class. It was terrible. Uriah reminded me a few times to do as someone says "Do your best and forget the rest." (It has something to do with P90X) Overall the semester was amazing - I loved it. And I'm looking forward to the spring semester starting in two weeks.

Next semester I'm taking a French, English, Sociology, and Music class. I am pretty excited.

Camera

I have some great pictures on my camera. Unfortunately, I've lost something that I need to charge the camera and to connect it to my computer. (Read the cord.)
Bummer... I'm hoping to find it soon.

Breaking the Rules

A few days ago my super sweet friend Alison returned from school.
I love the girl! So obviously, after work I called her on the phone.
Happily, and much to my surprise, she was near by my work!!! Woot!
So she dropped by and picked me up for a lunch date.
I was so excited that I broke one of my rules... I didn't have a visual or
physical check on my keys. And I locked them into my car. Oops.

Thankfully, my sister had a spare key and we were able to come
back a few hours later and get my car open.

So hurray, for friends and sisters, for rules and for breaking rules.

(You know, that is the first time that I've locked my keys in the car. Will it be the last?)

Traffic

Not having to struggle through traffic before, I've been surprised and annoyed figuring out the traffic patterns I'm currently facing. The biggest reason that I'm annoyed is because of the lack of consistency. One Wednesday, the drive I take (from the Farm to the West Side) will take 40minutes. The next week, (and for a very unknown reason) the drive will take 65minutes.

Seriously, how do you plan for that!?

Here are a few pictures of other cars sitting around in the stop and go traffic.
